Hi. I'm Pat Nevison and I started Quizengine as a hobby.

You see I'm a bit of geek, and also a bit of a pub quiz fan. I thought I'd stitch those two interests together and see what happened. Well, the first thing was a bit weird (or so others have coined it) - it was called 'The Quizcube'. I swear it's a faithful remembering of a 1970's electronic quiz toy my family owned... But no one else seems to remember it. (Hmmmmm... did I dream it ?)

Anyway, remembered or not, someone liked it because the website I built for it won me first prize in NTL's 'Best of Broadband' competition in 2004. I no longer run that website, but for nostalgic reasons I thought I'd ressurect the quiz itself and put it on the Quizzes page.

My wife works at a local secondary school, and she often found pupils playing Quizcube at break times, so she asked me to write her something a bit less quirky that could be used as a learning / fun tool in actual lessons. That led to Sidebar (see one of the original ones at the right), and that was also really popular with her pupils and other teachers. So I began to think that this might work for other websites.

I hunted around for a website that might want to partner with me to develop the idea further. Since I'm also a movie buff (and a longtime user and fan of their site) I decided to approach Lovefilm. They loved the idea and we worked together to publish regular weekly quizzes.

In September 2007 I finally decided to make the break and make quizengine my full time job.

A word of reassurance about my geekiness. Working for 27 years (yes, twenty seven) for the Dixons Group - the most successful electrical retailer in Europe - has given me a very good business sense. Yes I can talk techy 'till the cows come home. But I'll never lose sight of what the goal is - to build quizzes that drive your website traffic, repeat visits and visitor loyalty.

Lastly, I'm easy to talk to, have unshakable integrity and am always looking for ways to have some fun while getting the job done. I look forward to hearing from you.
